2002 WHRW Alumni Weekend (category: General)
This weekend is the 2002 Alumni Weekend at Binghamton University, and at WHRW. DJs from our recent and not-so-recent past return to do one sentimental weekend of radio.
This weekend also marks an important moment in WHRW's history, when the new station facilities will be formally dedicated to the memory of Paul J. Battaglia, our own General Manager from 1998-2000, who was lost in the attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center. Paul was a wonderful GM who went the extra mile for WHRW every day, and WHRW is dedicated to honoring his memory for many years to come. Our station's facilities were moved in the summer of 2002, and we want the spirit of Paul to be strong within our new walls. Paul's friends and family will dedicate the station in a ceremony to be held in the station and broadcast live over our airwaves starting at 2:00pm on Saturday.
If Paul were here with us, he'd want us to have fun, so we cap off a full day of Alumni programming with a live show. WHRW is proud to have high-energy local rockers One Minute More and special guests Neverman and Amy Ryan and The Operatives. The show starts at 6pm in the Susquehanna Room in the old University Union (just around the corner and down the stairs from the old WHRW facilities). The show is scheduled to be broadcast live over WHRW's airwaves, but it is a free show, and open to the public, and we invite you to come down and sample some good music.
Binghamton University, of course, has its own Alumni Weekend festivities. But there's nothing like memories from your college radio days. Keep it locked to 90.5 on your FM dial and don't miss a second of our special Alumni Weekend programming! posted by Moe Loogham @ 01:59:05
