Server Back Up! (category: General)
I guess it goes without saying - if you're reading this, the server is back up! I want to extend my most sincere apologies to those of you - especially station members - that were inconvenienced by our network problems. They should be behind us (*crosses fingers*).
In the hour or so the server has been back up, it's been doing little else except processing incoming e-mail. However, since the server was down for more than a week, it's possible that some e-mail may have been lost (it'll only keep on the other end for a few days). So check your mailboxes, and if you don't see something you're expecting, you should ask for it to be sent again.
A technical note to station members and those of you who take care of the Windows machines on the network: BU has equipment on the network that will actually shut down our network ports if it sees one of our computers sending suspicious data (like the kind of data that would be sent if a computer was infected with a virus or a worm). Therefore, it is imperitive that we keep up with all the latest Windows Updates and patches. We really can't fault BU for trying to stop the spread of worms and viruses on a network this size.
